ECA Rule Support for Distributed Heterogeneous Environments

چکیده
The utility and functionality of active capability (EventCondition-Action or ECA rules) has been well established in the context of databases. Today, most of the commercial relational database management systems (RDBMSs) offer some form of ECA rule capability. In addition, there are several research prototypes that have extended the ECA rule capability to object-oriented database management systems (OODBMSs). Sentinel, developed at the University of Florida ([1], [2]) is one such prototype that supports an expressive composite event specification language (Snoop), efficient event detection (using generated wrappers), conditions and actions (as a combination of OQL and C++), multiple and cascaded rule processing (using a rule scheduler and nested transactions), a visualization tool, and an editor for dynamic creation and management of rules.

[Position Paper] WS-ECA: An ECA Rule Description Language for Ubiquitous Services Computing
Ubiquitous computing network comprises a variety of distributed service devices. Today Web services technology enables the heterogeneous devices to provide their own services and interact with each other via well-defined Internet protocol. Nevertheless, service devices in ubiquitous environments require more eventdriven, autonomous interaction beyond rather passive serviceoriented architecture ...

Emerging ubiquitous computing network is expected to consist of a variety of heterogeneous and distributed devices. While web services technology is increasingly being considered as a promising solution to support the inter-operability between such heterogeneous devices via well-defined protocol, currently there is no effective framework reported in the literature that can address the problem o...

متن کاملPerformance Modelling and Evaluation of Event-Condition-Action Rules on RDF in P2P networks
This paper studies the performance and scalability aspects of processing Event-ConditionAction (ECA) rules on RDF metadata in peer-to-peer (P2P) environments. This work has been motivated by the increasing use of RDF in distributed web-based applications that require timely notification and propagation of metadata changes between peers, for which ECA rules are a possible candidate technology. W...
